  • Jennifer won a prestigious Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2008, and she also procured a prestigious Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (ARC DECRA) Fellowship in 2017.  Since commencing work at QUT in 2015, Jennifer has also secured significant ARC Discovery Project (DP) and Queensland Chinese Academy of Science (QCAS) Collaborative grant funding to prosecute her excellent program of surface science research on nano-scaled systems.  In all, Jennifer has procured approximately $1 million in research funding despite the short stint of her career at QUT.  Jennifer has developed and implemented a globally unique surface science capability at QUT as part of her ARC DECRA Fellowship, an inverse photoelectron spectrometer, which provides key information on unoccupied states of materials.  This is not a feat for the “faint hearted and has made Jennifer’s QUT laboratory a leader in the field, both nationally and internationally.  She is a rising star in the Australian Surface Science community, and is fast becoming one of Australia’s leading figures in the field.  Jennifer has also provided national leadership, both as the soft X-ray beamline proposal advisory committee Chair as well as the Head of School of Chemistry and Physics at QUT.
