Professor Allan Layton, BEcon (1^st Class Hons), MEcon, PhD (Qld), received his Doctorate in 1982 and was appointed Professor in 1992. During his academic career he has held academic posts at Latrobe University, Griffith University, Macquarie University, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and University of Southern QLD in Australia, and at Columbia University in the US. He was Head of School of Economics and Public Policy (1992 – 1995) and then Head of School of Economics and Finance (1995-2005) at QUT. In 2006 he moved to USQ where he was Pro Vice-Chancellor (Institutional Partnerships) (2006–10), Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Development) (2011–12) and, concurrent with these appointments, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law through until 2013, after which he continued at USQ as Professor of Economics until 2018. He is currently Emeritus Professor at USQ. His research and teaching interests span international business cycle analysis, financial and monetary economics, macroeconomic policy, provisioning of public infrastructure, carbon emissions decomposition analysis, and applied econometrics. He is the author or co-author of a number of academic books, and has published widely in international academic journals in his areas of expertise. He has also acted as consultant to a number of private and public sector organisations in Australia and in the US.
