Murray Hancock is co-founder and convenor of The Brisbane Dialogues (TBD), Australia's first dedicated "civil discourse organisation" and a leading independent forum which demonstrates how consequential and controversial topics may be discussed publicly, in a productive way, by people with very different positions.
TBD also runs Dialogues @ School, which furthers its mission among the next generation, and the First Tuesday Club, a private monthly discussion group which is modelled on the Johnsonian Club, which ran in Brisbane for over a century. Of other possible interest to QAAS members, it also operates Queensland Talks, a showcase of intellectual discussion events.
Murray was educated at UQ (Hons1 in Economics) and Oxford (MA in PPE). He worked in the Commonwealth Treasury, Credit Suisse First Boston, the Hancock timber and plywood business and other enterprises before his work with TBD, with whom QAAS partnered.
