Prof. Justin J. Cooper-White

Prof Cooper-White, a chemical and biological engineer, graduated with his Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) in 1991, UQ. Prior to commencing his Ph.D. in Polymer Rheology and Thermodynamics at UQ in 1996, he worked for Shell (Australia) Pty. Ltd. for 5 years as a design engineer and processing manager. In 2004 he was recruited to head an initiative in Tissue Engineering and Microfluidics at UQ (Dept. of Chemical Engineering) as Assoc. Professor. In 2007 he was promoted to Professor of Bioengineering.
He holds the positions of Group Leader at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnologies (AIBN); Professor of Bioengineering, School of Chemical Engineering (UQ); Co-Director of the UQ Centre in Stem Cell Ageing and Regenerative Engineering; and Inaugural Director of the Aust. National Fabrication Facility (Queensland node). He previously held the position of Associate Dean (Research) for the UQ Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and IT (2009-2013).

 

Awards: NHMRC Marshall and Warren Award for 2015 Project Grants (awarded 2016), AON Insurance Regenerative Medicine Award (2015), CSIRO OCE Science Leader Fellowship (a 0.5 FTE
secondment for 2013-2018), Politecnico di Milano Visiting Prof. Fellowship (2012-2013), ETH Zurich Visiting Prof. Fellowship (2007), Annual Award of the British Society of Rheology (2005).
